Were the perch big enough to eat? Caught a bunch in Phylis lake a year ago and nothing was bigger than 4 inches.

Caught 10 yellow perch with the kids spin casting and fly fishing off of the docks in the middle of the lake. Small spoons with red or yellow. Caddis flys and yellow nymphs for fly fishing. Fishing picked up during the evening Saw trout but didn't land any. Good family fun.

Can I use my gas 9.9 motor here!? I've heard so many mixed reviews, I called the fish guy in Rocky and he said yeah I can there's a speed restriction only, so than I look in the Alberta parks book and it says only the east lake I can so what is it!?!

by Hodderboys on Jul. 15, 2016
Was out few days in a row lake is swarming with schools of tiny perch that just take your bait and too small to hook, use to be good lake for rainbows now destroyed by perch

by Spenny2222 on Jul. 11, 2016
Was out today. Cloudy, but beautiful and quiet. Caught 2 very small perch, other than that no bites, no sign of much else out there.

by fiveinthesand on Jun. 20, 2016
Lots of bites but no commitment. I actually had a decent sized perch on my line but he jumped off my line just as I reached for him. My buddy had the same thing happen with a rainbow. Overall medium action on a beautiful day. Worth the time and drive from Calgary.

Great thanks!! We will give it a try

by Bullfloat on Jun. 8, 2016
@BraydenHofer14 - I used to live locally, but haven't been there in a few years, if it is unchanged there is a floating dock you can fish from at the end of a long boardwalk, has a tendency to get a little crowded, but i have caught fish from the dock without a problem.

Have a question for anyone.. Going camping here with some friends.. Planning on doing some fishing while we're there.. I hear there is docks there; is there good fishing off the docks?

You cannot drive on at crimson. They have locked the gate to the boat launch. Have to park in the beach parking lot. Also the dandy fish were there. Seems that mostly smaller ones left.

Whole lake to myself on a beautiful day. Caught a little one pounder in the first couple of casts. Sweet!
by fiveinthesand on Oct. 5, 2015
Sorry, meant no perch not pike. There were six others out that day trying for perch but didn't get anything.

Had a fantastic day fishing here on Sunday October 4. Caught my limit in two hours. Kept fishing and the action didn't stop. Conservation officer stated that two of my catch were the biggest out of the lake all season. Saweet! Fished off of the dock closest to the entrance. Used a fly rod with an elk hair and large rabbit tail leech. No pike though. Trout went nuts over the leech. Need to cast out at least thirty feet or so to see any action. Must be a pool or a shelf.
by airace on Sep. 17, 2015
Trolled the lake with willow trees and ford fenders. W/worms caught lots rainbow. This spot 20 feet from the dock was good for pearch

Where'd all the perch go? I was there 6 weeks ago and you couldn't shake them off your line. This weekend you couldn't see one. Otherwise the lake was so busy. At odds with casters. Not a good time or place with a fly rod.

Some slush on the surface, but otherwise ice is clear and solid.

Nice little lake. There's definitely some trout in the lake but they are very small. I had a couple of bites using a worm pattern but it looked like the guys trolling a trout rig were doing a whole lot better than me. It's heavily fished as there are 4 easily accessible docks to fish off of so don't expect to have the lake to your self.

by Ianb on Jul. 5, 2014
Went out last night. Fishing was slow. Only caught 3 small fish.

by Ianb on Jun. 15, 2014
Went out this afternoon. Caught 7 fish in just over a hour. Were all less than a pound but still fun to catch.
