Went out Oct 30,2021 with the kid and suffered for 2 hours in the wind trying to fly fish ...but...near sunset the wind died and the kid found a nice spot and we caught 5 rainbows. 1/2lb to 3/4lb range. fun to catch. kid wants to go back. only problem it was so cold that ice started to form on the rod. Only one other person fishing and they were on their phone instead of fishing. Very Quiet, beautiful evening, cool, smoky and lots of water fowl. However, absolutely no fish jumping or biting.

Hi all. Haven't seen anything at all on the pond lately. Has anyone been out this summer?

by Springer_240 on Dec. 28, 2019
Does anyone know how thick the ice is? Any tips? I want to take my little guy out tomorrow for a couple hours so any help would be great

by Donnie D on Dec. 15, 2019
Trout fishing is not good this ice season but the perch fishing is off the charts. Most are small perch

by Conservation Fishing for Life&Children on Sep. 14, 2019
Out fishing this morning, calm and no wind. No other people fishing, no fish biting, no fish jumping. Lots of birds.

by Ben dover on Aug. 19, 2019
lots of perch
by RoyalStimulator on Jul. 30, 2019
Found out the hard way, caught about 25 at the back on a pumpkin head at Star... Called it in, that's when Owen from SRD told me they probably won't be stocking anymore water bodies with illegally introduced Perch... Tigers and Browns may pick off some babies, but not the adults or the amount necessary to keep them from taking over....and Star has only Rainbows right now... Sad again..

by Donnie D on Jul. 29, 2019
Royal..i strongly agree with you.. it is sad indeed...Thank you for the info on Star lake..i didnt know about that.
by RoyalStimulator on Jul. 29, 2019
It's a shame, really liked the pond, had a good social vibe...I can't believe someone out there thinks seeding perch in a trout pond is a good idea. Haven't been out this year, took a look after the ice came off...now Star is pretty much toast... Running out of close places to go...thanks for the info Donnie

by Donnie D on Jul. 29, 2019
Lol hey royal lighten up a bit kid...i was just stateing facts..Brown trout eat perch..but i agree with you ..there is to much perch in there. LOL
by RoyalStimulator on Jul. 29, 2019
Whatever, Perch multiply too fast for any trout to take care of them genius...that's why SRD is putting up signs around Peanut and other lakes that state if we find any Perch in here, we will stop stocking... Simple Ecology 101...Browns can't even eat enough Brookies to keep them in check...

by Conservation Fishing for Life&Children on Jul. 29, 2019
73 perch?!? you have to stop using a gill net Donnie!....lol was there this morning, No fish being caught by anyone..fly fishing, bait fishing and jig fishing. Nothing. But a beautiful morning just to be out.

by Donnie D on Jul. 28, 2019
Brown Trout eat perch but there are very few Brown Trout in 4seasons now a days..

by Conservation Fishing for Life&Children on Jul. 26, 2019
Hey Donnie what flies were you using?
by RoyalStimulator on Jul. 22, 2019
Well, yeah, because there are too many of them... Perch need Jack fish or something to protect them from themselves...we already had this conversation. Once they are in there, it's done... Trout don't eat them...should have started feeding them to the birds as soon as everyone started catching them. They will stop stocking it now, call it a perch pond...

by Donnie D on Jul. 22, 2019
4 years ago i only saw a few perch now they are everywheres in this lake. Really big change in 4years. And most perch are tiny..
by RoyalStimulator on Jul. 22, 2019
Has anyone called to talk to the biologist at Fish & Wildlife about the Perch? Guess one would have to call the Wetaskiwin office... They are generally appreciative of feedback, as I spoke to the fellow at Stoney Plain about Star, which is now also full of Perch... Guess they caught a guy with a five gallon pail trying to put them in a trout lake... Couldn't tell me which one of course... The general course of action is to stop stocking.

by Donnie D on Jul. 20, 2019
No trout...but did landed 73 perch...
by iFish Guest on May. 25, 2019
3 hours this morning not a single jump only fish seen are under 2 inch. 5th time here this since they so-called stocked it. Everyone I talk to on my way to a spot have yet to get see or get a bite. My opinion is to not waste your time here. Needs to be killed off and start over in few years

by Conservation Fishing for Life&Children on May. 24, 2019
Tried fishing once again tonight....8:30 to 9:30pm. Nothing....once again...only two other people and they were skunked too. Kids that were there totally lost interest. I really don’t know what to say about Beaumont anymore.
by RoyalStimulator on May. 20, 2019
Perch have become too numerous and stunted, again, no predation to pick them off.... Especially with the partial winterkill...Tigers were initially brought into existence to feed on rough fish populations (perch, stickleback and stuff). They should try those or no limit on Perch... Trout won't grow now anyway as they don't have much too eat. Worst case is to kill it off and start over... It's a mess now.... Sigh

by Conservation Fishing for Life&Children on May. 19, 2019
Was out at muir lake this evening...lots of fish jumping about 9pm

by Donnie D on May. 19, 2019
The Trout population here is way down this year but the Perch population is way up.P

by RoyalStimulator on May. 19, 2019

by Maclennanchris on May. 19, 2019
