I'm coming up with the family this weekend and fish out of an inflatable. no fish finder. From the campground island are there any places near shore this time of year that have a chance of producing? not looking for secret spots, just a general area we can float over.

Cruising back from Poplar point to causeway launch a few days back hit something hard underwater-we think submerged log- took out gear case- lucky to reach launch.

Out on Lac La Biche this morning. 56cm walleye right off the bat about 300 meters straight out from the Prov park boat launch. Lots of algae in the water. Went out into the middle and the water is clear. Caught a 75cm jack. Using a heavy Krocodile silver lure. Beautiful day.
by Greenflyingpig on Jul. 21, 2014
Good fishing. Live nearby and fish it every weekend from the Prov Park boat launch. Good size walleye ( catch & release only) - usually between 17" & 24". Good size jacks too.

Good day by the causeway. CO at the launch keeping track of everyone's catch. They are looking to open walleye limit in 5 to 7 years.

Hi, Im looking to boat from sunset bay to owl river. Was thinking about going by churchill then north east to one of the openings between the islands or shore and around the west side of the second set of islands. Any tips on super low spots would be great, I have an aluminum i will probably take the first time and a normal boat maybe once im more competent with the lake. my email is firstname.lastname@example.org thanks.

How's the ice? Supposed to stay in a cabin on the lake this weekend
by moezee on Mar. 13, 2014
From what I heard the lake was supposed to be opened up this past year but didn't happen. I hope they open it up soon...as in may of 2014
by Hatethenets on Feb. 26, 2014
I hear that they will not be letting us keep them anytime soon!!! I am hearing because of the netting in the lake thats contributing to the fish which is effecting our ability to ever keep a walleye or even a normal size pike
by moezee on Feb. 24, 2014
anyone out in the la biche area know if they're ever going to open it up so we can start sleying some of your big walleye?? would be nice to keep some of the 7 and 8 pounders we catch everytime out.....GO OILERS GO.

I bought a cabin at poplar point this year, have been trolling around there all summer and getting lots of jack and walleye in July and August but for the last 4 weekends I haven't had a bite. I have tried all kinds of lures with no success. I asked a couple people and they said its bad now because the lake wasn't inverted yet. What does this mean? When will the fishing get better? Or did I just lose my mojo lol, Thanks
by iFish Guest on Sep. 1, 2013
Needle tip, you hit shallow water northwest of churchill? North east? sorry i just was thinking of going that way sometime soon. Wanted to clarify what you meant.
Very shallow unless you stick to the bays. Stay south. Very green water this weekend. Tried fishing all weekend but not even a nibble. Never had that trouble at other lakes.

Lakes like wiau twin behan big chief drown numerous unnamed lakes that scatter our back country. Most of those lakes are very difficult to access in the summer months

Another kayak fisher?? Sweet same guy who posted on wizard??R you on canadian kayak anglers??
I fish all over province, all the time would be great to meet another yak angler.
by iFish Guest on Apr. 16, 2013
Bo what are these bush lakes you speak of? I'm intrigued. Somewhere with less fishing pressure sounds excellent, horrible access or not. I fish from a kayak, I can go dam near anywhere.
by Bo on Apr. 14, 2013
Fish from stocked fish ponds taste terrible
by Bo on Apr. 13, 2013
The bush lakes that only get fished in the winter do to access difficulties should be left open for a few more weeks. There is very low amounts of fishing pressure from may to November so three weeks in April would not hurt. Maybe some of the fishing pressure would be lifted from the more access able lakes in the area.
I fish for fun and for a feed once in a while. If I wanted to catch alot of walleye I would use a square hook
by Cajed1 on Apr. 12, 2013
Well no rainbows no go. Can't be picky this time of year. You realize the lakes are closed for a reason. Pretty easy to target those walleye at tributary mouths during the spawn. Is that the edge you need to catch??
by Bo on Apr. 12, 2013
I do not fish for stocked rainbows. I fish for pike, perch or walleye. So name a lake around the lac la biche area that is open. Has to be within one hour drive.. Good luck!
by Cajed1 on Apr. 3, 2013

La biche good fishing by big dock
by Fish Huntress on Jan. 6, 2013
Went to Wiau last year with my hubby, fished for a few hrs & caught just under 15 perch. We witnessed a handful of other anglers (groups of 5 or more) loading black garbage bags full of fish into their pick-ups so full that they could hardly lift them up. I know i can't eat that many... so sad!!
Does anyone have comments for Lac La Biche Lake? Six of us went out there yesterday & we only caught 1 burbot in 4 hrs. So it was very slow.
by Rigger on Jan. 5, 2013
How do you access Wiau?
by Fireman on Jan. 3, 2013

by Bigfish on Jan. 3, 2013
Wiau must be a hidden perch gem of Alberta. I'm going there this week to get me some yummy jumbo perch.
by Bo on Jan. 2, 2013
I hope srd change the regs to copy Cowpar lake. 5 as a limit and only 1 to exceed 30cm. Wiau is over fished and will be cleaned out sooner rather than later. I ask people to use some common sense and let a few more go. Clyde lake was cleaned out in 2 seasons. Dabbs was in 1 . Try and let the kids catch some in the future.
by Redneck2013 on Jan. 2, 2013
In goin with 5 buddies this weekend!cant wait!come join us for a fish fry on the lake!
Give wiau a rest please! A lake that size with that much fishing pressure can not handle it any longer. Use some common sense
by Pikey on Jan. 2, 2013
