Ice Report: 6 in

by Lavarockpilot on May. 17, 2016
On the lake in my float tube from 0800 to 1300. Plenty of fish rising mostly at the far end. Had one good hit but that was all. Water is very low.

Went here today and got a bunch of grayling. About 12" - 14" of ice

Only on the lake from 1300 till 1700. Half a dozen strikes trolling a fly, landed one 14" and one 16". Beautiful fish. Caught and happily released! Lake was 6' deeper last time I was here!

Beautiful pond, very clean. Got one good bite but didn't hook it. Several good jumps. I'll be back.

Fished for a couple hours off the shore. No bites but was fairly warm. I think you need to go out deeper to have a chance. But might have been a bad day!

Only the second time I've ever caught an Arctic Grayling.... Did well in my float tube after the thunder storms moved through.

I think a pontoon boat is helpful here

This pond is massive now. First time gfly fishing it today and had a blast. Landed 4 grayling in an hour. Had about 10 more but they spit the hook so fast! For my first time here I'm very impressed.

The pond had doubled its size flooding the trails not much of space to cast. Floating is the best option right now. Fish are jumping in the middle. Thunderstorm just kicked in after a couple of hours. Caught a couple using small ehc.

Anyone seen this pond since all the flooding?

Fished it for an hour before noon. Not a single bite.

I went up to wedge pound for may long weekend and the pond was half empty and still frozen. What a waste of time.
