January 09, 2021 Ice Report : 13 Inches. 50 Yards off boat launch at LIttle Bow PP

by Bert on Dec. 15, 2020

We went out yesterday afternoon (14/12/20) and we’re surprised to see so many fisher-people out on the ice (by the dock pilings) in -12 degree weather! Thankfully the wind was mild and the ice was thick at approximately ten inches! Only stayed two hours and had a few bites; two crayfish on the line as well as one Walleye, and a Pike eye-balled us and made its escape! All C&R! First time out really just to check the ice thickness but what the heck, might as well throw in a line!

Update to August 4, 2020 To the people fishing right at the spillway... for one thing it’s illegal to be within 100 m. And you were also photographed keeping fish which is illegal as well. Not a good thing to be teaching your children to break the law. Comments and photographs have been forwarded to Fish and Wildlife for investigation.

Little Bow Provincial Park allows you great access to Travers. Great Lake if you have a boat but unfortunately this year (so far) for shore fishing the water has been super high limiting access to those walking into the area looking for a spot to fish so most people are fishing from the docks. June 2nd we fished the day starting at 07:30 and caught a large Pike (5.3lbs) on the first cast. The day was great as we brought in several more Pike with the three largest at 4, 5 and 5.25lbs. And we also caught six Walleye with the largest at 3lbs. All Fish were C&R! Weather was warm and mostly sunny with gusts of wind. Still a beautiful place to spend the day.

Ice is bad, maybe 6 inches. Temperature is 12c with alot of melt. Super windy couldn't even walk out deep enough to try before getting blown back. Not worth trying

Went out today mid afternoon, caught 12 fish in total. 10 small walleyes and 2 good size white fish on jigs with artificial worm. Watch out for a blue campion boat with about 6 people in it. They were netting walleyes all day and putting them in pales to keep.

Fished for 4 hours with 2 people in the morning and didn't get a bite, either the whitefish have been over fished or they just haven't come up shallow yet. They really need to lower the daily to 5 here. Not to mention I saw many boats fishing with more than 1 line per person and numerous boats within the no fishing zone at the spillway. Wish I had reception to report it before I left

With all the wind the last couple of days, most of the ice is gone. Must be a big pile up somewhere at the south end of the lake, but it looks like 90% is gone as of today

6” about 200 yards out from Little Bow Resort Boat Launch. Although some areas around us had only 4”. Guy with Side by Side went through the ice as he drove out about 20 yards from shore.....so be careful. Fished for 4 hours with Side Imaging Sonar, didn’t get even a single beep on the screen. Still had fun though! 🎣🎣

Anybody been out here lately, and know where to go? It's been about 15 yrs for me. Deciding between this and Keho. Southeast side or spillway seem to be the popular spots. Any tips would be greatly appreciated

i know whitefish spawn shallow, but where would be the best place to find them?

Star Star Star Star Star

by FishinBenny on Sep. 4, 2016

whitefish should be coming back up to the shallower water as the weather cools and they stock up for spawn.

by Tanyab1982 on Aug. 4, 2016

Wondering if anyone knows where the white fish are? Know they are there. Thanks
