Very weedy at the canal entrance to the lake. Tried using a float to keep the lures out of the weeds. We used a quad flexing rapala lure and a bi-flexing lure. Had the interest of the pike using these lures.
Tried our luck at the entrance of the canal into the lake around 11 am today. Met a couple who caught one small pike. We had two bites but no landing. We were going to try the hot spot just south of this location but were turned back by the mosquitos. Bring bug spray if you venture in to the grass. They are vicious!!

Planning on doing some fishing this weekend... Is the lake worth going to
by brucenasty27 on May. 31, 2015
New to fishing here in Alberta and Chestermere Lake was the second place I've tried fishing in. Here was my take when I went out on May 31st:
- People were awfully rude with their boats. I know its a lake and there is going to be boats and stuff everywhere, especially on the weekend, but to have people drive their boats through the area I was fishing, not once but twice was fairly upsetting.
- Snag city. My brother and I tried fishing in the north end of the lake towards the boat launch, and in the south end by the canal. Every cast I threw out with either my spoons or just a float and worm brought in weeds. I probably brought in enough weeds from 7am to 12:30pm to feed my family for a week.
It could very well be my set up as well.
- It could've been the day, I had a couple got hits on my spoon, but it didn't seem like anyone was catching anything, either at the north end or down by the canal.
The town was very nice as was the lake, I stood in it for pretty much every cast I threw out. If anyone has any pointers or tips for fishing this lake because I would definitely like to return.

I've fished here a few times over the last couple years that I've lived in the area and never seen a truck or hut on the ice only tents and lots of quads and snowmobiles. There is access from the marina to get them on the ice but I think it's safe to say they don't allow regular vehicles on the ice. Hope that helps chuck.

was about 10 in. Nice keeper. Only if he went for the hook and I pulled him out the hole. Strangely enough you can still keep 10. Even though it's almost rare for people to catch them here on hook. There must be lot's of them, but they don't grow big. Become eaten by the pike before they even have a chance to grow. Then there's to many small ones that don't eat the stuff we offer. I believe there is to many pike in that lake.
Most of the perch are small and get eaten quickly. Although there is the odd big one caught. Had one come to the surface of the hole ice fishing close to shore about 7 years ago. Water was 2-3 feet. The fish followed the lure on it's way to the surface hole and went back down.

There is an abundance of canoeing, kayaking, motor boating, jet skiing..and oddly enough bathing.. While fishing I did not notice any abundance of fish. Infact I didn't even get a nibble. Someone on the Ifish report said to fish under the bridge. Unfortunately there were kids chucking huge stones underneath - paying them $5.00 did the trick!

Tried fishing it on January 21st, the south end was busy with about half dozen ice sheds and another 4 groups scattered about. Went to the park and fire dept. access on the east side and tried to drill a couple of holes there. Drilled 3 holes, first one about 100 yards from shore and hit mud and rocks, second one about 200 yards from shore and it as about 6 inches of water after the ice and the third hole was about 250 yards from shore and there about a foot of water after the ice. This part of the lake is suppose to the the deep part. pretty much a waste of time, and I chipped my blades on my auger
