Hey Nobadays...

MrToast I will agree that Alberta Fish and wildlife could be doing more but for the rest of your rant I think you have over looked a few key reasons for why our fisheries are the way they are. There is nothing sustainable about Alberta’s fisheries, but I don’t think you can blame the government. Alberta has 3000 registered lakes but sells 6 times the fishing licences Saskatchewan sells with 100000 lakes. Those numbers alone explain why our fisheries are the way they are (sheer volume of anglers) Stocked trout ponds and lakes are there to take pressure off of naturally reproducing prairie species like pike and walleye. As well as trout found in the eastern slopes. Fisheries are delicate, and it’s not as simple as just stocking more fish. There are many factors that come into play, most of which were caused by humans and have no solution...currently. Things like fertilizer runoff, winter kill, over fishing (THIS WEBSITE!) climate change, invasive species to name a few I think you have a incredibly unrealistic view of Alberta’s fisheries and its this kind of attitude that is going to make it worse. Please don’t go spreading inaccurate information on a website that’s seen by thousands just because you can only keep one walleye. Lower your expectations or move to Saskatchewan!

AlbertaFish and Wildlife is incompetent...plain and simple! Fine..chase poachers..stock a few lakes with hatchery bred trout...BUT what the heck are they doing to create a SUSTAINABLE resource...People want to catch fish plain and simple.People want a place to take their children and do the same for some recreation...So why pander to species in this province that don't mature and breed quick enough to be a realistic sportfish? When I was a kid...Pine lake thrived with Perch and Pike..it was an absolute playground for fishing.. Now its hit and miss.. They've protected the Walleye..heck..you can catch one ..you just cant keep it as it takes 7 years to breed..In the mean time...the Walleye have eaten the pearch...those Perch the Fish and Wildlife didnt pillage a few years back when they netted them to stock other lakes..Heck you cant even call fish and wildlife to complain properly! Ridiculous..What is the priority here...Perhaps they should kill off all the lakes and stock them Sturgeon..Then we can keep them ...what? Every 50 years...WTF! I REALLY hope Fish and Wildlife sees this and takes the comments to heart..

Why did the Alberta fish and wildlife change the status of this year so u could keep one walleye now??? This lake has gotten worse over the past 5 years to the point there are very few fish of any species. Last time i caught a walleye from this lake it was +8 years ago? Someone please help me understand!

Hey Everyone, looking at trying pine lake this weekend, where is a good place to park and access the lake? Moved here from MB year so trying to make my mark on many lakes as I can. thanks for any info!

by fishing in canada on Dec. 28, 2019
Ice is about 8 inches but like last year has a crust then air gap so about six inch good ice, some slush on top in places, few huts closer to boat launch, wouldn’t drive out to far. Caught a few pike and seen one perch on the camera, finally seen one lol

by Timfisherman on Dec. 20, 2019

by Mangomonk3y on Dec. 14, 2019

by Mangomonk3y on Nov. 7, 2019
Come here ice fishing use tip up rigs with a bobber just use smelts from superstore and twitch it every so often. Usually under 63cm more like 50-60cm.wait 2-3 seconds after bobber goes down and set hook.go by the cabins

by GreatCanadianFisherman on Nov. 4, 2019
This is wishful thinking, but is any of that hard stuff forming yet? haha

by Burgz on Jun. 10, 2019
There are worms in pretty much every fish in every fresh water body. Just cook the meat properly and you'll be fine.

by copperjacket on Jan. 18, 2019
Used to get perch by the dozens just off the docks.

by Zoltrix on Jan. 11, 2019
In 15 years at this lake I've never seen a perch come out of it, but every few years some of the old guys start talking about it again. I've been trying but no luck. Never know, I fished it for years before hearing of a walley, then a couple years ago myself, and two friends each caught one, all separate days. If there are perch though, I'm wondering about a few shallower spots where there's maybe less traffic, and less pike in the area? give it a go today.
by Matt Lawrence on Jan. 10, 2019
Where are people finding the perch? Haven’t seen one in the lake before!
by iFish Guest on Jan. 10, 2019

by Misermike on Mar. 18, 2022
Approximately 26 inches of ice. Still able to drive on at north boat launch. So far caught 1 small pike, lost 1 small pike and seen a couple more go past the camera.
