Was there late June. Netted 4 browns 12, 16, and 2 x 19”ers. I didn’t see a single bow, but the browns were very thick and took hard out of the weed line.

Lake was full of Weeds near dock and cleared up on the far east side of lake. Seen lots of jumpers and cought one 49 cm fish and it was cloudy and windy day but a nice one for fishing on a Tuesday.

Had my vehicle broken into and3 rods and two gear bags were stolen. I’m offering $1000 no questions asked for their return. The items are extremely sentimental. Any help would be greatly appreciated. camyallits@gmail.com

Pretty slow today, 6 or so boats out flyfishing and spin fishing and noone got anything. in the 2 1/2 hrs i was out, i was trying chironomids and leeches. Wildlife viewing was awesome tho with loons, pelicans, and geese families, made for a lotta fun despite lack of fish. One if the guys said its been a pretty slow year overall, but there are a few nice trout if ya put in the time.

by chrisjellocosta on May. 7, 2018
Too many people poaching it last year theres probly not many left

by Frying Nemo on May. 7, 2018
No fish from anyone. It is still early in the season. I only saw a couple jump. May be better when stocked.

by slimsoccer on Nov. 29, 2017
Muir lake is closed for ice fishing from Nov 1 to Apr 30. FYI if anyone is coming to try ice fishing here

by Craig W. on Jul. 20, 2017
Cruised all around Muir Lake yesterday evening. Two of us tried various spinners and spoons of all shapes, sizes and colours. Not one bite, and weeds are beginning to take over. However, the fish are still jumping everywhere.

by BINO on Jul. 7, 2017
No bites at all. Weeds everywhere. Saw two pelicans nab one each though. That pretty much was the highlight.

by Ryder250 on Jul. 5, 2017
Fished today caught one on the first cast and he broke my line, saw him in the water was huge! No other bites, maybe it was to warm during the day.

Fished three hours no bites or fish jumping first time there not impressed

by SnapBack02 on May. 20, 2017
I fished it last weekend and caught a few 14" rainbows. Even after the winter kill last spring I caught a few 20"

by Newfie69 on May. 20, 2017
Iceandfire, the lake fished well last season with a 0 catch limit. It has recently been stocked again this year. This is a sportsmans lake. Gotta work a bit but the fishing is decent here. They stocked rainbows and browns in it this year.

by Iceandfire on May. 19, 2017
Came up to a sign saying that this lake has winter kill and there is no big ones whatsoever the limit is only one at 20 inches. Gone 3 times so far no fish, lots an lots of minnows by the dock. Lots of little fish jumping, but no bits. But overall it's nice to get out an toss the line in the water because you never know. But won't go back this year even tho it's nice an close to town.

by Hardcor on May. 7, 2017
Yeah I went Thursday. 5 or 6 other boats on there as well. No fish for anyone. Disappointed outcome.... but a nice day.

by sedubius on May. 5, 2017
@Hardcor did you end up going yesterday? How was it? I am going tonight.

by Hardcor on May. 3, 2017
Yes I seen that post from Nov as well. I read it the same as big fish! My bad! Anyway I'm headed there tomorrow, chucking bugs and see what happens. I wish you all the best in your up and coming open water season! : )

by BigFish838383 on May. 3, 2017
Yes they talked about fishing on november 1 but notice how they said they were fishing the other day which means sometime late october.

by Sastrand on May. 3, 2017
People spoke about fishing in november Hardcor....

by Hardcor on May. 3, 2017
Thanks Tips! : /

by NorthernYaker on May. 3, 2017
That's because the lake is closed Nov- May. By May you can't fish on what ice is remaining.

by Hardcor on May. 3, 2017
I looked back at this thread that started in 2011. There is no mention of ice fishing......just people wondering if the ice is off yet is all. Thanks for the updates!

by sastrand1993@gmail.com on May. 2, 2017
FYI muir lake is closed Nov1st-April 30th. Why are people talking about ice fishing?

by Shawn420 on May. 1, 2017
Muir update lake is open by the dock quite a bit and south side of lake is completely open been here for a few hours nothing yet airtaiter is still going pulled as much of the fencing aside

by sedubius on May. 1, 2017
Muir opens today, anyone heading out that can give an ice report? Going Friday.

by Madmak on Apr. 29, 2017
Some open water but not much. Open around the aeration and about 5m from shore. Hopefully this week will get the ice off.

by sedubius on Apr. 27, 2017
With the winter kill I figured it didn't need more pressure. On my hit list come ice off after may 1 though.

by Mr Flyguy on Apr. 27, 2017
We must have crossed paths at Spring. The last day I fished there was November 13 and found some slabs on a Vampire leach pattern, Like you, never fished Muir at all last year.

by sedubius on Apr. 25, 2017
Not Muir, Spring. I didnt fish Muir at all last year.

by Mr Flyguy on Apr. 23, 2017
Well hopefully you were not on Muir in late November 'cause it's closed from November 1 to April 30!

by sedubius on Apr. 18, 2017
That's wishful thinking, however I am wishing too... Gonna be a late start. Oh well I was still out on the lake late Nov. last year.

by Mr Flyguy on Apr. 15, 2017
Only 2 weeks to opening day (May 1). Let's hope the ice is gone.

by Goggin on Apr. 9, 2017
Still plenty of ice as of apr 9th nice to see aeration system going
by Alberta_flyfisher on Apr. 7, 2017
Has anyone been out recently? Is the ice off? Any reports of dead fish?

by SnapBack02 on Nov. 1, 2016
Fished for a few hours the other day, landed 4 on back swimmers about 10ft off the dock. Biggest was 20.5 inches! Good to see!

by Mr Flyguy on Aug. 13, 2016
Some of us will likely go out in the fall for the backswimmer action but if others want to wait for next spring that's OK with me!

by Alberta_flyfisher on Aug. 11, 2016
Weeds have fully taken over the lake, in a float tube it's unfishable. Don't bother even trying. Go to another lake. You won't have a good time. The weeds are getting close to the dock as well.

by Craig W. on Aug. 9, 2016
Was out yesterday evening (Aug. 8). Weeds have grown almost to the surface (nearly everywhere). Not a sign of trout jumping/surfacing anywhere at all. Water's probably too warm at this stage in mid-summer. Don't waste your time until next spring folks.

by Barrybull on Jul. 31, 2016
Alberta flyfisher.........i caught a couple last June
by Alberta_flyfisher on Jul. 22, 2016
I haven't ever caught a brown at this lake. All rainbows, since someone asked. Been fishingit for 9 years.
by Steve77 on Aug. 30, 2020
Fished for 2 hours from the dock with spinnners. No bites. Thought I saw a couple of fish rise out of the corner of my eye, but may have been the neighborhood muskrat messing with me.
