by Big fish guy on Aug. 5, 2021
yikes went out to see on a hot smoky day. The lake has taken on a very foul odour especially because of all the birds. Trout will be VERY stressed if there are any left. stinky and only stayed for a short while with no sign of fish.

It's slowing down now .beginning of May was catching 1 or 2 5pound rainbows a day on powerbait rig.and some smaller ones too.big ones are fished out .waiting for restocking of big rainbows

by Big fish guy on Jun. 20, 2021

by pwned555 on May. 31, 2021
I haven't been in a while, it used to all be dead and filled with birds but sounds like the fishing is picked up and the lake has been cleaned up. It was a short walk to a fairly decent sized dock to fish from last time I was there.

by iFish Guest on May. 30, 2021
Can you shore fish here? Is it a long walk to the fishing area?

by wiseslider76 on May. 13, 2021
fished for an hour last night and caught a dozen rainbows. excellent action right now.

by wiseslider76 on May. 11, 2021
Went this evening and caught a hand full of small trout in 1.5 hours. Most were tiger trout. Fishing was good and the weather was great. Spinners was the lure of choice as they weren't touching the meal worms or worms.

by Big fish guy on Mar. 15, 2021
Fished Hasse about 6 times over the winter. Always slow but good size rainbows when they did bite. Lots of other anglers so the lake gets hit hard but there are fish in there. Looking forward to some summer action

Ice Report: 8 in
Safe ice, lots of heaving and cracking. Likely
Due to the large open Aeration

by Big fish guy on Dec. 8, 2020
well I finally managed to break the ice ( no pun intended). First rainbow out of hassie for probably 15 years. Very good size and quality. I put him back for you to catch. Next is one of the Tigers see you on the ice.

by Big fish guy on Dec. 5, 2020
Well Hasse lake reclaimation. Nice to see the airation great bunch of ambassadors for Alberta Conservation especially Dom! I have spent 3 days out ice fishing in great sunny weather and that amounts to about 20-24 hours. I have had about 6 bites but no fish yet. The entire experience is great however and some people report catches. I am going to fish this lake again like I used to 20 years ago. and I am sure it is just a matter of time this lake will regain some of its past glories. I sure liked being outside fishing a lake so close to home being the Pandemic year and not catching anything ( yet) sure beats isolating in front of a tv. Watch the open water and good luck

by wiseslider76 on Nov. 23, 2020
They stocked over 25,000 trout into hasse this year . Tiger, brown and rainbow. 2020 fish stalking report shows it for this year. I'm gonn have to ice fish it this winter

Was once a great trout fishing lake but something went wrong. Then pike were introduce but they didnt last long. Hasse is a dead lake.

by Verjario on Jan. 10, 2019
I am confused, is their actually fish in this lake? I have tried fishing off the dock years ago without any luck. But I see in the regulations all the fish mentioned that you can keep which would I think mean theirs fish. Though I could beer wrong but jack and trout in the same lake? Doesnt usually happen does it?

by Park the shark on Jan. 26, 2018
Has there been any update on this lake ? Still devoid of all game fish or has it turned around in the slightest. Also has there been any recent study done for a plan going forward ?

by ZE3K on Jan. 8, 2018

wow..i am still in shock over Hasse lake...years ago it was one of the best trout fishing lakes around..producing big rainbows ...but then it went belly up....hope that one day this lake can be brought back to life ..

by PhilR on Mar. 5, 2016
The St Albert Fish and Game Assoc.had an ACA biologist speak at our Dec 2015 meeting. He is doing a project on Hasse Lake and reported the lake was completely without game fish. It winter and summer killed recently. The project is looking at what can be done to restore the lake. Much improvement has been made on protecting the riparian areas around the lake from livestock.

by fisherman77 on Mar. 4, 2016
I was there today. There was no one around but few signs of fire and fishing. Is anyone know official report from fishery?
by craigar68 on Feb. 20, 2016

by BiggieB on Feb. 5, 2016
Ok, just so you know the lake is no longer stocked with anything by the esrd and they Rotenoned it back in 2012-2013, there are only stickle back minnows and seagulls....sad but true
by Countryboy_299 on Feb. 4, 2016

by ekirylda on Jan. 3, 2016
Ice Report: 7 in
Walked on.

by Donnie D on Aug. 5, 2015
REST IN PEACE HASSE LAKE you were once a great trout fishing lake .

by QC on Jun. 22, 2015
That lake is dead, you aren't supposed to touch that water, warning signs everywhere. They probably won't stock it anymore due to the birds and the introduction of pike.

by Seamax Ed on Jun. 1, 2015
Dead lake
by London on May. 15, 2015
Was this restocked??

by C&R for our future children on May. 11, 2015
Stopped by yesterday, lots of minnows, lots of birds, but did not catch anything off the dock, and did not see anything in the fish bins.

by tymab on May. 2, 2015

by Shawnthetrainman on Apr. 18, 2015

Ice Report: 20 in

by Caisa_Runes on Aug. 28, 2014
The lake is dead guys. Too many pelicans, seagulls, and Geeae, these two bigger birds need to be relocated. The beach is full of poop, and Mother Nature is reclaiming it with full of grass all over. What a sad thing to see. :-(

by Sevo43 on Aug. 4, 2014
K people this is the actual truth from people studying the lake for years

by Shawnthetrainman on Jun. 29, 2014
My buddy caught a 19 pound jack in this lake last weekend

by Sauger on Jun. 14, 2014
Went out on Wednesday you might as well forget about good fishing here with all the pelicans that nest on the island. Very sad from what the lake used to be to what it is now..

by zoocosm on Jun. 8, 2014
The central island is full of birds, including geese and Pelican. The boat launches are hot in full sun (black floating plastic) and the shore mud is "fragrant". A nice lake to canoe with lots of reeds around the perimeter. Didn't catch any fish but it was good day on the water.
by Fburton on Feb. 1, 2014

Ice was 16 inches thick about 100 meters off shore at the vehicle entrance to the lake
