Fished Grist on Mar. 24th on the north end. Drilled a hole in surprisingly 4.2ft of water, dropped a cold lake special and hooked a 77cm. So fished from 4-18 feet and caught 7 fish(2keepers) and lost 3-4. Also caught a 87cm Pike and a whitefish. Good day!

I give this place no stars! Way to over priced and lots of hidden fees. Paid $200 per night then you find out when you get there that it's another $20 to boat over there (it's only accessible by boat) each way! Lady asked us if we wanted fire wood for fire, had to chop it ourselves, then they charged us $40 when we checked out, that was one expensive 10 min fire (too many mosquitos out, wasn't enjoyable being out there). Then my boat broke down so had to rent a horrible tinner for $190/day. Didn't even come with an anchor we just drifted all over the place. Ended up just using it once. Had to get it towed back, had my 4-month-old daughter with me, charged me $100. He knew he could charge me anything he wanted but the guy is just money hungry, doesn't care about you or making sure you have a good time. The cabins smelled of propane, screens were all broken so all the mosquitos kept getting in, the kitchen table was held together by duct tape, linens have never been washed, and the bed was built with twigs, not sure what you're getting for $200 when nothing is up to code, your safety is compromised, they charge for everything and rip you off with hidden fees. And you have to bring your garbage back with you. Run by lazy pieces of crap, worst fishing weekend ever, never will they get another cent from me!

Ice Report: 14 in
14 - 16 inches of ice. Stay to the plowed road around the south side of the lake and you will be ok.

Fishing was terrible. Rained 45mm in three days. Also if you plan on staying at grist lake lodge is is very old and outdated. Wasn't overly impressed for the price

How did you make out at grist? I'm heading there in a week and a half.

I m heading out to Grist on the weekend, anyone been out lately, how is the road after the warm weather.

by iFish Guest on Jan. 29, 2014
Went there twice so far this winter, first time caught 6 nice lakers biggest being close to 30 inches, fishing seems good about 50 yards off the lodge, using smelts or minnows on tip ups.

by Fac3 on Dec. 17, 2013
Road was good going in, they have a road plowed around the waters edge to the lodge. Fishing was good and there is 10 to 12 inches easy
