Finally got a perch! You must use white bait or they’ll just stare at your hook

Drove on this morning. Lots of top water. Was kind of sketchy as there was lots of water in the tracks. Ice was about 17 inches but only 12 in some spots closer to the shore. Be careful out there. Slow fishing. Couple small jacks. No keepers. Didn

Cut 4 holes all within 5 feet of eachother and got between 5 inches and 10 inches of ice. DO NOT DRIVE ON YET! Ice sheet moved lots when skidoo drove by. Lots of fish on the camera at 30 ft down. Pike and perch. Not much action. Fish didnt seem hungry.

Another great lake that has been destroyed by loose lips and social media. 23rd of December, 6 hours of fishing and nothing worth the bait it ate off the hook. 13 perch caught and 1 small pike, take the youngsters but dont go expecting keepers!

Alberta.fishing- was there on Monday and where I was had 20"of ice, fishing was... I got skunked, lots of perch and some pike all day on camera. But I spent most of my day trying for perch, all the little perch that were not much bigger than a minnow were all over my hook, but the bigger ones showed no interest. And had a few pike take my line but got off. Buddy caught a nice sized pike, 75cm and fat, 6.2kg which is close to 14lbs

How thick is the ice currently and how's the fishing been here?

Star Star Star Star Star

by Verjario on Feb. 7, 2019

Lordofthefish- lucky for me using my fishing camera and my other rod I was able to fish out my rod and rod holder, especially sense that rod was only a few weeks old and $50 which is a little pricey as far as ice fishing rods go, and the rod holder is the berkley thicker more heavy duty ones that I haven't seen around anymore. Only caught one fish that day which was the one on the line of the rod that went under, but I was just happy with getting my rod back lol other wise would have been not only a bad day of fishing but an expensive one lol

by River_rat on Feb. 3, 2019

Have the perch left Alberta. The ones you can see on the camera are not biting. Why?

by Captain Jack on Jan. 29, 2019

Lots of perch on camera. Light line and tiny, small jig with maggots. The bite is light. Hand line best. Fished in 30 feet of water. Caught 12 small perch. Took home 4.

Don't know what's going on with lac la nonne, 2 weeks ago we had close to 20 jack in the day, last Sunday had 10, and today 2 between me and buddy and the perch all over the camera but just not biting on anything we try. And my own stupidity I didn't put enough weight in my bucket and a jack took my whole rod and holder down the hole, but luckily for my camera and had auger to punch a couple extra holes I was able to fish them both back out with my other rod lol, and the best part is when I fished my rod out and got it out of the hole, the jack was still on my line, and that was the only one I caught all day. Otherwise I probably would have had been skunked today
