Fished a lot better after May and June's stockings. A lot of 6"-10" Rainbows. Use Dries and Nymphs. Gets busy so get there early.

by lotksie on May. 18, 2020

Anyone fished in it this year that it's stocked for sure? Don't want to waste the time like I did last year lol.

by LordOfTheFish on Jun. 1, 2018
This pond was stocked

by Conservation Fishing for Life&Children on May. 22, 2018
Stock report 2018 says no fish for 2018.

by The DeBo on Apr. 21, 2018
Are they stocking it this year? And are there really perch in there?

by Tkachanski on Mar. 26, 2018
Witnessed a legend by the name of Ainsley Nelson catch a limit of 15%u201D perch out of here the other day. You sir are one of few who can HANDLE THE TRUTH.

by Deadwat3r on Jul. 2, 2017
It was hermitage and upon further investigation I caught a koi. Best i can figure it was thrown in there by some people

by fisher777 on Jul. 1, 2017
Are you sure you at Hermitage? I have fished it for 25 years!! No fish stocking this year. Deepest part is 12 feet + 3 feet of sludge. The fish die off in January. No oxygen. Nothing to catch this year, don't waste your time!!

by Deadwat3r on Jun. 30, 2017
Well i was able to catch a fish. I dont know what it was but it was not trout

by sedubius on Jun. 21, 2017
IMO it is unlikely they will stock it as it has been labeled as a likely spot for spreading Whirling disease.

by hildebrandbennetts@gmail.com on Jun. 19, 2017
anyone know if its been restocked or if its going to be this year?

by Conservation on May. 13, 2017
Some reports are saying that there may be a limited stocking program this year due to whirling disease. I agree that stocked ponds should be C&R until Canada Day and have a under 16 only fishing derby weekend and then after that people can take fish home. Just a suggestion if fisheries is listening? Ponds are suppose to be a learning ground for the next generation, but I do not see many children fishing. I agree that kids being able to take fish on the family weekend might get the community message out there. Enjoy C&R for the next generation.

by Steve o on May. 11, 2017
May 11/2017 stock report has not mention any stocking yet , I agree when this little pond does get stocked let's catch and release this way all of us can fish all summer and yet our littlest fishing angular s can learn and have fun too , enjoy Steve o

Good day everyone. It is again time to go Fishing and have too much fun fishing at Hermitage park pond lake. I want to invite to you because you love go to fishing just for fun and spent 2, 3 or more hours fishing, lest keep doing only catch and release until the family fishing weekend on July at least. That way we can still have fun until September. Lets go spread out with family and friend that go the pond even with people that we don't know. Maybe they don't know the rules or the y don't know that we only have fun for two month because people take all the fish that they can out. I'm personally going to try to tell everyone that I only catch and release at the pond. Using my T-shirt with this words slogan: I want to have fun all the season, that's why I only CATCH AND REALEASE! let's go fishing guys, see y'a at the pond.... By the way, I went today May 11th and the pond and it is not yet stocked.

by harveyhvac on Apr. 29, 2017

by Spartan on Feb. 14, 2017
Ice 18" thick, kind of smelly Methane gas once you open the hole. no bites but it was a nice sunny day.
by lotksie on Sep. 20, 2016
caught 2 around 11" using 52 buick fly
by MitoMan on Aug. 16, 2016
Nothing on anything! I tried worms, powerbait, marshmallows, and wet worms and could get a single bite. Is trout fishing really this hard or am I just missing something? There are fish I see them jumping but I am not sure what are they after

by zyggy on Aug. 13, 2016
Nothing on the dry
by MitoMan on Aug. 11, 2016
Fishing Here with dry flies was great earlier in May. I want to go for a couple hours this evening or tomorrow but the comments below are not very encouraging. Anybody had some luck recently? Would dry flies still work?

by zyggy on Jul. 27, 2016
This pond is fished out.

by dprodan71@gmail.com on Jul. 23, 2016
Terrible, Weeds are out of control, not a single bite

by chinnnner on Jul. 11, 2016

by tawill69 on Jul. 10, 2016
Hardnox best bet is to use about 6' of line from a bobber with just a hook and worm!! usually works for trout from shore!! Or you could try same 6' of line with 1/2ounce weight and a floating bait like a marshmallow!!
by Hardnox on Jul. 9, 2016
Got my girlfriend a licence and a new rod with some jigs and odd n ends spinners trying to get her to hook into her first fish any helpful ideas would be appreciated. We are both using spin cast rods

by Crawford23 on Jul. 7, 2016
Anyone know a good spot to fish the pond ?

by CrazyPhD on Jun. 6, 2016
The trout in the pond is getting smarter and smarter. If you cannot get any fish in the pond, try the storm water outfall at North Saskatchewan River. Landed one pike about 50 cm yesterday at dusk.

by Conservation on May. 27, 2016
I agree with Pikster. Wish the limit was one and catch and release the rest. Many people are treating it like the local meat market. Or how about catch and release until July first and then have a kids fishing derby weekend only for kids and then allow adults to keep and eat after that July weekend.

by newscientist on May. 24, 2016
Been out yesterday and caught my limit in about 3 hours. Fish were active but it is tricky to find what lure they would take. They finally bited on small flies I have. Nice day on this family park.

by idog106 on May. 18, 2016
Anybody leave a fishing rod and reel behind. Friend of mine found one surrounded by a bunch of trash, he cleaned up and took the rod and reel and is hoping to find the owner. If you know the make or model let me know and we will try and return it

by Pikster on May. 10, 2016
some people on dock keeping anything they catch. lettem grow to 11-12 inch and will be a more filling meal for u.

by barrykoy on May. 9, 2016

by newscientist on May. 7, 2016
Caught 6 yesterday on a fly.. Biggest was 9 inches

by wouldee on May. 6, 2016
Fished yesterday. Caught 11 in under an hour using panther Martin #2. Released all for the next angler.

Was out yesterday and caught over 30 fly fishing! Great night out!! Pretty sad when you come to fish and the place is littered with garbage tho!

by Trout whisperer on Apr. 30, 2016

by Evan Brotherston on Apr. 29, 2016

by ceogeo on Apr. 28, 2016

by pwned555 on Apr. 28, 2016
How big Ceogeo? If they were around 6"-8" then it has definitely been stocked, closer to 12" and they would be last years.

by ceogeo on Apr. 28, 2016
it must be stocked because I am a brand new novice fly fisher and I caught 4 in half an hour

by Juank on Apr. 26, 2016

Alberta stocking Fish page and Hermitage Park Pond is not yet stocked.by Nantule on Apr. 24, 2016
Fished it for 2-3 hours on the 21st trying all around the pond with different methods and no bites or jumps. Thinking we still have to wait.

by newscientist on Apr. 9, 2016
Me too, I was there 12:30 to 2:30 and no bites or any other sign of activity. It can be nice for an inflatable boat though. When do they normally stock this pond?

by Iwantfish on Apr. 9, 2016
Not yet. I sit there for 3hr. But there is not even a bite

by granpa on Apr. 9, 2016

Hi newscientist, there are no regulation about the date to fish in ponds. ALBERTA REGULATION FISHING 2016 (Page 16): Water bodies appearing below are open all year with a trout limit of five. The harvest of game fish species other than trout from stocked trout waters is not permitted. Stocked waters where the harvest of other species is allowed or where bait restrictions apply are listed under “Lakes and Streams Listings” for each Watershed Unit This is the link to watch or download the fishing regulatioin 2016: http://aep.alberta.ca/fish-wildlife/fishing-hunting-trapping/alberta-regulations/default.aspx
by newscientist on Apr. 7, 2016
Guys, is the pond open for fishing April and May? Can't seem to find the open dates for this pond.
by Iwantfish on Apr. 5, 2016
Can we fish at the off leash lake?

by Pickerel Pan on Jan. 3, 2016
Has anyone had any luck ice fishing this winter?

by zyggy on Dec. 20, 2015
Went in the morning. Caught one fat rainbow. Didn't see anything after that.

by kimMac on Aug. 10, 2015
Went for a few hours in the evening, no luck. Saw some flopping around on the top of the water though as I was packing it in for the day.

by jrb420 on Jul. 18, 2015
i contacted Alberta conservation the whole restaurant owners trolling the lake never happened although the pond starts to get over fished so there's alot less trout till next spring when they stock again the best fishing is from stocking up till about middle of june past that expect a slow day usually have better luck on the river mid-late summer

by Volvo on Jul. 15, 2015
its hard to fish in this area, too many weeds....

by iYearn on Jul. 15, 2015
Anyone know more about these two restaurant owners? Would love to know the name(s) of the restaurants and get that to the news media...as long as the story is true!

by Schlenks on Jul. 14, 2015
It's a nice little pond. Saw maybe a dozen or so jump. No bites, just bait stealers. If that's true about the people netting fish it's a shame.

by Fender55 on Jul. 1, 2015
From what I was told last night after no action and no fish surfacing, is that about two weeks ago, two restaurent owners were caught trolling the lake with nets. Conservation officers said that they had over 400 fish that they could not release back because they were dead. I hope they crushed them with fines.

by bassntrout on Jun. 19, 2015
Any tips on what the trout are hitting the most on?

by Mercer on Jun. 18, 2015
@geedub they might go to waste but they are ruining the factor that kids go here to fish. they go for fun. if they dont catch anything theyll stop fishing. why woyld you want to keep a 5 inch trout. toothpicks?

by Fender55 on Jun. 17, 2015
Lots of fish surfacing, managed to land a couple using a small mosquito pattern. Several guys using a slip Bob with chunks of shrimp were doing quite well also.

by geedub on Jun. 11, 2015
Fish don't survive the winter. The ones people don't eat go to waste.

by 1Bigfish on Jun. 11, 2015
I was here around 8-1130 seen lots of fish jumping, didn't catch anything. Had to leave because I was disgusted watching a group of two catching and keeping small fish, ruining the pond for people wanting the big fish. There should be a size limit

by Canadianfishers99 on Jun. 9, 2015
*2:30
by rugby1411 on Jun. 7, 2015
Wife caught her first trout ever there last night at about 9:30. She was using a white hook with a fluorescent orange stripe diwm the middle, like a red devil.

by Canadianfishers99 on Jun. 6, 2015
Fished for 3 and a half hours from 3:30 to 6:00pm and seen about 15 fish jumps but didn't catch anything. We used a small orange jig with worms

by Endo_03 on Jun. 6, 2015
I caught 3 12"+ size trout yesterday. As usual hermitage park is my fav go to for rainbow trout. Really good eating fish light seasoning n cover it with breadibg and pan fried hhmm hmm hmn

by Conservation on May. 30, 2015
I just love fishing! Bottom line is I am not into harvest fishing, but enjoying the fact that I can C&R with my kids when we go out to enjoy a beautiful day. There are lots of people breaking the limits and yes my math could be more accurate, but the theme is accurate...some people are taking many more than they should...resulting in stocks being gone by July long weekend or generally about there. Report a poacher and leave Hermitage Park a place for all to fish all summer. Fisheries has already dealt with some poachers in Beaumont! Tickets and gear seized!
by harveyhvac on May. 28, 2015
Was out on the 24th. Caught 5 between 8 and 10am. All small ones.
by valdez on May. 25, 2015
Great fishing weekend. Caught 8 on Saturday and 9 on Sunday. Catch and released.

by moemoe on May. 24, 2015
Caught 5 today 2 decent sized . They sure do love green baits.

by chris d on May. 24, 2015
Wingnut look for the guy relaxing on the shore while the girlfriends casting towards the island with the Cabela waders on. We'll talk flies.

by J-rod on May. 23, 2015
There's tons in there. You can see them chasing the minnows but they're not taking the bait. Maybe it's too hot. 11:30-1:30 no bites but a nice day anyways!
by Fisherjuan on May. 23, 2015
Starting at 8:00, nothing yet. But not the only one. I'll try untill get at list one. Nice day

by fair fisher on May. 23, 2015
About the comment made by C&R for our future children, about the numbers you are using for this example are ridiculous and involve every person out of your 10 would have to take 18 fish home per day to equal your figures. A more accurate figure would be 50 per day or 5 per person of your 10 people constantly fishing. Which makes 50 days min until the lake is drained of fish . That being said I'm just correcting your math and totally agree with keeping them in the water for a while more at least

by Pikster on May. 22, 2015
FF I dont believe C&R is patronizing at all. but stating a simple fact many choose not to comprehend. I personally am witnessing people on the dock taking way more than their limits. Fish and Wildlife have been notified. The math is simple but people are not getting it. I'm not sure how else one can get the point across. Filling your freezers with 6 inch rainbows does not equal very much meat. No offence intended.

by Wingnutt37 on May. 19, 2015
Hatchery trout will pretty much eat anything the first month they are in this pond haha! Real test will be in July, if there are any left, to test your fly fishing skills on this pond. Perfect time to pick up a kick boat for evening hatches, maybe we will see you out there! Caught ten in two hours just drifting around, all are back swimming.

by chris d on May. 18, 2015
Great Lake for the kids. I took my girlfriend and we safely released 5 fish. Small ones but it's great for the family to learn fly fishing.

by Bladestar on May. 18, 2015
Went down last night shortly after 7 pm did a bit of fly fishing used the mosquito worked great . Catch N released all but 2 in which I gave away to a nice fellow fisherman who wasn't having much luck. Lots of small ones here but the kids enjoyed there night out.

by kinger77 on May. 10, 2015
Im going to head back in the morning and try a simple 1/8oz weight, 18 inches of line then just a hook on the end and switch up between pink powerbait and worms until i find what works best.
by Zurg on May. 10, 2015
Simple worm and weight constant hits between island and shore all on smaller side but fun!

by Riverbear on May. 10, 2015
Do the trout explode when you catch them??!! Poor fish. Some do survive from the previous year. And they stock almost every year.

by kinger77 on May. 10, 2015
Ive been there the last 2 days. 6-7 hrs total. Had a few bites, didnt land any fish though. Seen lots of descent size ones chase my spinner to the shore. Whats everyone using for their set ups? Lure/bait?
by FF on May. 10, 2015
Thanks for the math lesson and patronizing lecture, C&R.

by C&R for our future children on May. 10, 2015
Awesome...hope they were all C and Release. Cause if you do the math....if 10 people fished all day that would be 180 fish a day and 2500 fish stocked...that means less than a month of fish before they are all gone...Please C and R till the end of June.
by Rev.Dennis on May. 10, 2015
I went yesterday caught 18 between 6 and 10 inchs within 5 hours
by Rev.Dennis on May. 10, 2015
Pink power bait drove them crazy great spot for the little kids.

At the pond April 26th and there are lots of minnows for food, but nothing jumping yet. The city fixed the dock from the idiots that damaged it last year....I think that the picnic table that someone threw in has also been removed...Sheesh...

And where does it say you cant fish in the winter?... Lots of people do!

by southcookingguy on Dec. 29, 2014
Ice fishing is not allowed in the winter at hermitage

by Grumpy Gus on Dec. 9, 2014
Was there last week for a couple hours - ice was about 5-6" - multiple holes - multiple depths - got nothing. Something stole my bait tho...

by Pikster on Dec. 6, 2014
went out yesterday to check thickness. Black ice 6-7 inches with 4 inches floodwater
by Pikster on Nov. 29, 2014
Ice Report: 4 in
I drilled a hole by the dock, depth was 7 feet of water.

by Stryker2 on Nov. 23, 2014
Was there from noon to 3:30pm today and got one bite and one nice size fish. 1.5 Lbs. Not great but better than watching that Football game!

by Stryker2 on Nov. 21, 2014
I was here yesterday, for 4 hours and was fishing with the jaw jacker. I tried everything under the sun, and only got 2 bites on the Jaw jacker, they took my bait and no fish!

by Pikster on Sep. 28, 2014
Good idea

by Conservation on Sep. 1, 2014
Should be catch and release until end of July then have a weekend fishing derby just for kids and then have catch and take for the meat eaters!

by Pikster on Aug. 1, 2014
7 people by the dock fishing between 3-10 pm. No nibbles, no fish surfacing. Water beginning to have foul smell to it.

by Pikster on Jul. 18, 2014
I talked to an older gent who informed me most fish are now gone. He dropped his camera down in several spots and saw very few survivors. I think it's time to consider other spots.

by BigMackLittleMack on Jul. 5, 2014
Not much here...lots of people fishing..no biting.

by NoBuck on Jun. 24, 2014
also. I do have photos.

by NoBuck on Jun. 24, 2014
I measured the ones when I got home. the ones that didn't survive and they measured out at 14" and yes late January or early February is the last real chance for them, surprisingly you can ice fish this pond, when I went in march it was very smell thus meaning winterkill.

by Wingnutt37 on Jun. 19, 2014
Last two times out were super slow, could just be bad timing. There are no 18-20" fish in this pond, maybe 12" tops. Someone is telling you fish tales if they get anything bigger and don't have photos to prove it. I have caught over 100 trout at this pond already this year and the biggest was 12" and smallest was 8". And no they don't over winter, they last until about January. If they don't get fished out.

by Shaneice7777777 on Jun. 14, 2014
If you don t believe me there is a youtube video titled 'Hermitage Park Flooding - June 23, 2013 #yeg '. I can t believe nobody can remember any events that happened in Alberta of last year.

by Shaneice7777777 on Jun. 12, 2014
re: Pikster. No, walk the low part on the East end of the culvert. 40-50 ft ? No, it s probably more like 4 to 5 ft difference.

by Shaneice7777777 on Jun. 12, 2014
re: waterninja. Yes, it is true but not the summer last fall. It happened close to when the Bow River flooded downtown Calgary last year. Check it out there is a culvert on the East end of the pond. The NSR level rose and spilled into the Pond.

by Pikster on Jun. 12, 2014
To wingnut 37, i agre, sad to see so many being plucked out so early in the year. Do they survive the winter? Others tell of rumors of 18-20" ers being caught in this pond.

by Pikster on Jun. 12, 2014
I agree waterninja dont understand how this is possible since pond is at least 40-50 feet higher in elevation. I believe this pond is a storm sewer runoff.

by redeyedkush on Jun. 12, 2014
Caught 6 yesterday in 2.5 hours. Do any of you guys eat the fish from here?

by Grumpy Gus on Jun. 8, 2014
Beautiful ponds - lots of geese that that love to yell. Caught 6 or 7 in about 2 hrs- plenty more bites. Catching some from shore on a sz 12 grey elk hair nymph- did better from my float tube.

by waterninja on Jun. 7, 2014
never been on this site before so don't know if this comment will ever be seen, but someone posted that the nsr floods into the stocked pond in the summer which is not true.

by NoBuck on Jun. 6, 2014
your welcome! hope it helped

I watched him pull out those fish. It was unreal. I the new guy had no luck. But he did give me some tips. Thanks again!

by NoBuck on Jun. 2, 2014
pond was amazing this sunday especially after the slow day at vegreville. caught 16 in about 2 1/2 hours ranging from 12 to 14 inches, 5 unfortunately didn't make it as they swallowed the hook. all others were released, I was fishing with 2 other people

by Isaac Haines on May. 24, 2014
Thank you vary much Wingnut for your help!

by Wingnutt37 on May. 24, 2014
I was at the pond Wednesday and Thursday evening and the trout are starting to get wise to some of our tricks! Only caught three between the two days. Had lots come up and look at the dry fly or smack it with their tail but no real serious feeders. Lots of othere people fishing were feeling the same frustration. I use a 9' tapered 4x Rio leader tied will a range of nymph and dry fly sizes. At this point you're best off trying size 18 to 14 for dry flys and 14-12 for nymphs. Also if you don't tie your own flys, like I do, check out Glenbow Flys that they sell at the west end fishing hole and get your self their "trout" selection. At least these are hand tied in Edmonton and not bulk garbage from overseas.

by Wingnutt37 on May. 24, 2014
No real size of yet they are not going to be anything to write home about until fall but the chances of them lasting until then are slim if nobody puts any back.

by Isaac Haines on May. 24, 2014
Wingnut37. Hi, I'm new to fly fishing. And fishing for that matter. I was at the pond earlyer this evening. With no luck :( Fish were jumping every where though! So I'm curious as to what size hook's you were using? And maybe tippet size? Any advice/tips you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

by ThomasP on May. 23, 2014
Has anyone caught big ones yet

by Wingnutt37 on May. 21, 2014
Went out last Wednesday night and caught six on my own special made nymph and grey black mayfly. Might make it out there tonight to try my luck again. As for the catch and release idea, good thought but until they change the regs people will harvest what they want. If you enjoy the catching part of fishing and not the keeping then do your part in putting them back even thought they won't make it through the winter or even summer for that matter. That's why it's called fishing and not catching, needs to be some element of skill in trying to catch a big one this summer.

The problem is you can t wait until fall because the North Saskatchewan river level rises during the summer melt in the Rockies and thus floods this neighboring storm pond.

by Pikster on May. 18, 2014
How about waiting till Fall to keep them this way they grow bigger and their population stays high. This way everyone benefits. I like seeing kids excited about catching something rather than continuously going home dissapointed. I think most anglers would agree. Anyway, happy fishing.

by Shaneice7777777 on May. 18, 2014
What is all the hubbub about if a person wanting to keep one ? Almost everything gets winter killed in this small polluted pond every year anyways.

by Pikster on May. 17, 2014
I agree with catch and release in this pond. It is quite annoying to see people keeping these tiny fish. There is hardly any meat on them.
by unatiq on May. 17, 2014
To the people getting bites. What do you use? And any preferred spots on the pond????

by unatiq on May. 17, 2014
Went today around 7 pm and just fished under the bridge for 15 mins. Didn't get any bites. A lady walking by told me they haven't restocked yet. I'm going to try again tomorrow for longer then 15 mins.

by Conservation on May. 16, 2014
Catch and Release People...._Catch and Release so you can catch all summer!!!!!! not just in the spring._Sheesh._if everyone keeps taking out just a few...they are all gone far too quickly.

by Fishing1012 on May. 15, 2014
Yes it's stocked

by Fits on May. 14, 2014
Has the pond been stocked this year yet? Thanks

by stingray14 on May. 14, 2014
wingnut, if you don't mind me asking what are you using to catch all these trout?

by Wingnutt37 on May. 11, 2014
Didn't get to 100 but came darn close at 90! My buddy was using a spinning rod and caught six in an hour using a Panther Martin spinner so he was stoked! Too bad by the end of June this pond won't be as fun to fish but that's ok by then the lakes and streams I normally fish are open so I will get my real trout fix then! Happy fishing!

by Fishing1012 on May. 11, 2014
The one with the island is where you want to be
by Wingnutt37 on May. 11, 2014
Been to the pond every day this weekend and the best time to go is in the late evening between 7-10pm. Trying for a new P.B. of 100 fish in a weekend! With the gail force winds yesterday I only caught 8 so I'm hoping tonight I can catch the 20 I need to set my personal record, see you out there!

by stingray14 on May. 10, 2014
so there is several ponds shown on the map, what one is everybody fishing in?

by Bladestar on May. 10, 2014
Scatter .... Went back last night kids got a few I got a couple all good for a small pan fry dinner kids were happy,,, think I'll trip back latter tonight see if they be biting again lots of small ones but fun to catch.... Around the warf and to the right seem to be the best for fishing ... See ya there :=}

by ScatterRippinFloater on May. 9, 2014
Hey Wingnutt37 thanks for the tip. We are gonna try spin casting flies with a float bobber and light line. Us 'fly fishing wannabes' know the bites are small and even small dressed spinners are a bit bulky.

by Wingnutt37 on May. 9, 2014
Fished it last night and caught 50 on a small grey mayfly, going back tonight to do it all over again! Fly fishing out fished bait and tackle 5-1 and the fish are very small but fun to catch regardless.

by ScatterRippinFloater on May. 9, 2014
Bladestar, taking my brother there to check it out. Any suggestions on where on the pond to try tomorrow?

by Bladestar on May. 9, 2014
Fishing was slow till about 6 pm we tried marshmallow , spinner ( Martian Panther spinner .. Silver ) they worked great worms were the best folks were doing great fly fishing . Took some home the kids caught very tasty . Great place to take the kids they loved it.

by Fishing1012 on Apr. 28, 2014
Very true ^

by Shabba on Apr. 28, 2014
We really need to airrate our trout ponds, and lakes. Less winterkill and health fish.

by PinkPikeHook on Apr. 27, 2014
No ice on the pond. Smelly water as usually. No bites on flies, small spinners, shrimp or a #1 Rapala Countdown. Fished the north area in a pontoon. Too many birds too!

by Rick_the_Chemist on Mar. 11, 2014
Water pretty black and smelly. lots of holes out there though so people still trying. I drilled a line from the dock to the island last night, still 24" of ice all across. No luck though.

by Pikster on Jan. 24, 2014
If the water smells foul usually indicates that fis are decaying in water. Got this info from fish farm staff

by iFish Guest on Jan. 16, 2014
Have been @ the pond with the kids today, no fish on the flasher and no bites... the water smells!? is that what it should be?

by Pikster on Jan. 8, 2014
If there is no aeration set up and fish are close to surface usually a bad sign that oxygen levels are low. I saw this at other ponds ending up in winter kill

by Jaged1980 on Jan. 3, 2014
Try worms with a small hook on pick rig I also used cheese marshmellows or slightly cooked craft dinner

by iFish Guest on Jan. 3, 2014
spent 6 hrs over 2 days and not even a nibble. I don't think I will be back.

by iFish Guest on Jan. 1, 2014
Was out there today and yesterday fir 2 hours and not one bite. Used pink and yellow powerbait and also tried meal worms. If any has success please post details. Thanks

by Branfish on Jan. 1, 2014
I was out today for 3 hours and not even a nibble. Used power baits and maggots. Ice was 13" thick at north end of pond.

by Joshlehr on Dec. 15, 2013
Awesome time with the wife today! 3 hours and 2 hogs over 12" each 10 feet from dock. Lots of flood water but about 10 inches of ice. Worth it! Just used mini yellow Beatles with corn on hook about 2-4 inches from bottom of ice. They are swimming really close to the ice.
by Joshlehr on Dec. 9, 2013
Ice Report: 8 in
50 feet from dock 8 inch, flooded spots by island and mid pond. Please post when and where you find the little buggers :)

by Joshlehr on Dec. 9, 2013
3 hours not even a bite, used corn, power bait, and mini beetles. 8 inches

by Joshlehr on Dec. 9, 2013
What bait?
by tj28 on Dec. 8, 2013
Ice Report: 6 in

by Joshlehr on Nov. 27, 2013
Can we get an ice check from anyone close?

by iFish Guest on Oct. 6, 2013
Very few left in the pond. Very picky eaters.

by Dak1138 on Sep. 26, 2013
Went this morning for 20-30 minutes at sunrise. Caught one, lost one, had another interested. All on a boatman pattern. They removed some weeds and brush on the hill by my 'spot' , made casting easier.

by Dak1138 on Sep. 19, 2013
You are welcome ifish guest from July 13. I have not been here for about a month , but they were biting boatmen just north of my marker right where the weeds ended less than ten feet from shore. Wire worms and damsel nymphs have also worked pretty well for me this year at Hermitage. And to the guy from Ontario that fished on June 3 , there is no live bait allowed in Alberta. I am guessing you didn't bother with a license either.

by iFish Guest on Sep. 12, 2013
Still a few kicking around but very pickey. 2 hrs of fishing no nibbles

by TBfish on Aug. 31, 2013
Pulled 11" rainbow this evening, lost a second. Fun!

by TBfish on Aug. 31, 2013

by Billybones on Jul. 30, 2013
Fishing in a group of 4 around the pond with the dock. No catches but saw them jumping after 8pm

by iwilliamm on Jul. 27, 2013
Never seem to get a bite ,tried a number of different things ....
by Bryce Pollock on Jul. 16, 2013
Saw 3-4 fish jumping in late day warm and overcast.. Fishing wrong bait so didn't get any that day
View on Map

by iFish Guest on Jul. 13, 2013
we released the fish so I agree with bigfish...the fish probably taste like mud or worse!

by iFish Guest on Jul. 13, 2013
thanks 4 the marker dak1138 I went last night and my son caught a 8 incher on a gold spinner.lots of fish boiling over I haven't figured out what? chronomids? help

by BigFish26 on Jul. 8, 2013
I agree with pikster stop keeping the small trout let them grow same thing at east pit lake you don't have to keep everything that you catches instead of keeping five small ones try for that one big one just saying

by iFish Guest on Jul. 6, 2013
Water is more visible, lots of fish jumping this morning... Grab your poles!

by iFish Guest on Jul. 1, 2013
Wich pond? The most north pond? Or what

by iFish Guest on Jun. 30, 2013
Went to take a peek out there today, you can see almost 2 inches into the water, even seen a few trout jump... there is 1 monster trout lurking in there (one of the trout that jumped the water) Was at the pond in the off leash area, noticed a NO fishing sign.... so i take it people still fish that pond anyway?

by iFish Guest on Jun. 28, 2013
The previous comment is so far beyond wrong it's ludicrous. The water flowing in from the NSR was 69 degrees(I checked).Trout will avoid that temperature water and go deeper to the places where it is deeper/colder.No trout would have swam against a current of warm water out of the pond.

by iFish Guest on Jun. 26, 2013
Hermitage fishing is done for!! It's an estimate (80%+) but most trout are gone from when the NSR flooded into it! Still hoping some big ones ended up here!!

by iFish Guest on Jun. 23, 2013
The Pond is flooded from the North Sask. River this morning....No fishing for quite a while....let's hope the fish stay hardy.Maybe we'll get lucky and pull out a sturgeon in the fall...hahahaha

by iFish Guest on Jun. 21, 2013
Pikster...the reason the trout don't overwinter is because it's not deep enough.Any fish left come winter are going to die regardless.A lake in general will become over fished not by how many people are keeping fish but because they are keeping mature breeding fish.

by iFish Guest on Jun. 18, 2013
I talked with a the guy who fishes in the float tube all the time and he catches lots of fish.Gave me some awesome tips where to fish from shore and even some of his flies.Tried what he said that same day and I caught 8 fish it was awesome.

by iFish Guest on Jun. 3, 2013
I came in from Ontario to see my brother. I had heard Hermitage park was good fishing! it`s not!!!!! We fished both pond and tried a ton of lures and live bait. Just go to the NSR at least there you will have a variety of fish to catch not just baby trout!

by Sam_lion on May. 27, 2013
There is no bows in the lake in the off leash area.

by iFish Guest on May. 19, 2013
Does anyone know if the newly developed lake by the off leash trail is stocked as well? I heard rumors they were thinking of it last year. Going out in the am to cast a few in the original pond. Hope it's stocked otherwise will be a long morning.

by iFish Guest on May. 15, 2013
There are NO 30 ft drops anywhere in hermitage ponds. It winter kills every year.By May long weekend it is re-stocked.

by Dalray on May. 10, 2013
Winter killed. They will restock it according to the stocking report. When they do just don't keep every fish.

by iFish Guest on Apr. 18, 2013
anyone know if these pond(s) survived the winter

by iFish Guest on Feb. 14, 2013
There are 30 foot drops there they can last thru winter i seen lots pulled out good sizes never caught one my self

by shelterless on Jan. 24, 2013
dont waste your time driller 40 holes didnt see a single fish on the sonar

by Pikster on Jan. 21, 2013
I am surprised to hear this pond can be ice fished, thought it was too shallow for fish to survive

by Zygo on Jan. 20, 2013
How was it?

by Zachary on Jan. 19, 2013
Gonna go out there today ill tell u how it went

by Rcamp on Jan. 18, 2013
anyone been out here lately?

by Sambo on Nov. 9, 2012
Was there two weeks ago an got one about 14" Can you ice fish it?

by Richie Rich on Oct. 10, 2012
I got 2 little trout. I just catch and release. Nice time fishing.

by Pikster on Jun. 10, 2012
Sad to see lots of people are keeping the small 8 inch trout. The pond will be fished out quick at this rate. Catch and release till Mid August and there will actually be meat on these fish. Lets be responsible everyone. Happy fishing!

by Schnidy on May. 27, 2012
Where do all the minnows come from in this pond? And what are they?

by Trout on May. 23, 2012
Caught a bunch last week using Mepps spinners. Silver or gold ones work well.

by Mancity on May. 23, 2012
What are they biting on??

by New flyguy on May. 22, 2012
Yes it is stalked and good fishing as well, went down there for an half an hour and caught two and missed 3.

by FishNut on May. 20, 2012
Can anyone confirm if this was stocked yet??

by Canad88 on May. 18, 2012
Pelicans are feeding well!!!!!!!!!!

by FishNut on May. 4, 2012
They stocked it for may long weekend last year. Off leash gets 1000 fish. Main pond gets 2000. At least it did in 2011.

by Pikster on May. 2, 2012
Tried several times in the past few years. Not even a bite! Im glad to hear someone is catching fish though. I heard rumors that the new lake by the off leash area will be stocked this year as well. Does anyone know when the lake gets stocked? Maybe i can snag one as it enters the water from the tank lol. Happy fishing everyone.

by FishNut on Apr. 30, 2012
Was there on Saturday. Not even a nibble..same with the other 4 people there. The dock is also still locked.

by rikkles on Apr. 30, 2012
Anybody have any luck yet there or is it winter killed and awaiting a new stocking?

by Carl on Apr. 29, 2012
yes it is melted

by FishNut on Apr. 28, 2012
Heard tell the pond is melted for the season. Can anyone confirm this? I am thinking of heading out this Saturday to test some new line and practice cast.

by T on Apr. 24, 2012
Does anybody know if it has winterkilled?

by Zen on Apr. 8, 2012
1 or 2 bites through a whole day of fishing

by Vigsy on Mar. 7, 2012
Fish arent bad eating at all. Maybe a little muddy in summer but not bad at all.

by CanadianBadass on Mar. 6, 2012
The fish in this lake are very very dirty. i have seen ones come out with redish pink fillets, ( whicj means bacteria groth or virus) and also white spotting and fuzzy mold groth on thier skin ( DO NOT EAT FISH FROM HERE ) I seen some guy posting videos on youtube about his ice fishing this year. he also showed the fillets after. And GROSSSS, ive been trout fishing my whole life and never would i have ever eaten that fish. That guy is probably not feeling good by now... On the other hand, its a good lake to take some kids and catch some fish. just do not eat them

by Vigsy on Mar. 6, 2012
About 25 yards out from shore and about 60 to the right of the dock! Just used a worm on a plain hook fished about a foot off the bottom. Lakes pretty dead lately though

by StuCazzo on Feb. 23, 2012
Where did u fish by for the 17 incher? I live by there would b nice to have my son catch one

by Vigsy on Jan. 25, 2012
Caught a 17 incher today!

by Vigsy on Jan. 23, 2012
Just got setup was pretty sure it would be winter kille but i really wanted to fish. Not 2 secods after droppi my worm down had a big trout take it but lost it near the hole:(

by hubie on Sep. 21, 2011
Never had luck here, but went for a walk this evening and met a nice fella who was fishing off the dock. He swore that he always got something from the lake. Well in about 15min he caught a small guy. So there are fish here and they can be caught.

by NSA on Aug. 25, 2011
kind of a sucky place to fish it fished out 2 days after stocking. good place to practice casting like jason says..if you looking for fish dont bother wasting your time.

by Mr.K on Jul. 9, 2011
This pond is hit and miss, but it is right in the city.Early in the morning after stocking or in the fall is a safe bet.

by Jason the cap guy on Jun. 27, 2011
It is a great lake for practice casting! Coz simply there are no fish at all. Got annoying by two guys who pretend they know fly fishing as well, don't have a clue how to cast, their bait keep flying towards my head, not into the water. Luckily I got my cap on, otherwise I would got hook by them!

by Benz2k8 on Jun. 16, 2011
Was there caught 1 lost 4 In 1hr

by Rt on Jun. 15, 2011
Went there last night fish were jumping lots in the evening, had quite a few bites. Caught a couple.
