by Braedo on Jan. 8, 2019
Given the previous comments I think the fishing is dead and the ice has got to be a bit thicker than 9 inches. Good luck

by Jaw jacker on Nov. 18, 2017
Don't bother going to this lake. Was out today and there were guys setting up nets. The guy walked right into our setup and just drilled a hole within 5 feet of us. Brutal. This lake does not have many fish as it is and now it's being netted???? How is this allowed.

Any recent reports as to whether the lake is alive and well. ?

by Deanstr8 on Feb. 9, 2016
Just so everyone knows.... I was on the lake in early October and caught several keeper size pike. There was very little pressure there this past summer as the lake was recovering from winter kill, but there are lots of pike around the bible camp!! Not sure of the perch situation.

by Teachthekids. on Feb. 1, 2016
Lake not dead yet. Went out on new years and dropped camera. Seen fish. They just wouldn't bite. Probably to afraid to. Can't blame them after the last couple of years of being massacred. Lol

by Handicap on Jan. 3, 2016
Was out on Sunday drilled a couple holes; dropped the camera down but didn't see anything. Not a vehicle to be seen on the lake. I'm hoping it makes a rebound but can't see it bouncing back anytime soon.

by Curtis_rak on Dec. 13, 2014
Ice Report: 7 in
6-8" of ice. At least 3-4" of slushy flood water on top. No fish. Lots of shiners and stickleback on the camera, not one perch or pike seen in 1hr fishing. Camera visibility poor, 2' vis at best. Looks like the lake is still In recovery mode

by McCfisherguy on Jan. 13, 2014
Don't even bother trying, it's a dead lake, I'll try again in 2-3yrs. out on sat. About 30 or so people on the ice not a single nibble between them all.

by Jaged1980 on Jan. 13, 2014
In the middle by the island 7 feet of water

by iFish Guest on Jan. 13, 2014
I was out on Sat for 3 hours and did not get a nibble. I did hear that the lake had winter kill. There was no one driving on the lake and approx 15 huts. I chatted with one fellow who lives on the lake and said it was poor since walking on.

by iFish Guest on Jan. 12, 2014
Was out on jan.10. Wasted 3hrs that I'll never get back.I'll now wait 5yrs to go back and try again. :-(

by iFish Guest on Jan. 10, 2014
What side of lake did you catch the perch?

by iFish Guest on Jan. 10, 2014
My 2nd time out this week and only a couple nibbles. Very dissapointing. used to be a very good lake but last years winterkill changed all that. Off to try another local lake as this is a waste of time

by iFish Guest on Jan. 8, 2014

by iFish Guest on Aug. 12, 2013
as per many residents of Lake Nakamun not one fish caught all summer. Time to find somewhere else to drop your hooks this winter

by iFish Guest on May. 26, 2013
It is officially no fish lake again spent all last weekend fishing and nothing. Dropped a camera down and saw lots of dead fish. Oh well give it five years and it will be back

by Deanar on May. 8, 2013
I am lake front owner on south east side. The pike and perch definitely got winter killed as there are thousands of dead fish on my shoreline.

by iFish Guest on May. 8, 2013
I am a lake front owner on the south east side of Nakamun. The lake definitely got wintered kill. There are thousands of dead Perch and Pike on my shoreline. Hopefully some survived.

by Fulton69 on Mar. 25, 2013
As for it being over fished??? Unlikely... When u can go anywhere on the lake and drop a camera and see a lot of fish...

by Fulton69 on Mar. 25, 2013
Don't be surprised about it winter killed... Live close fished whole life.. Every 5 years it winter kills due to being a small shallow lake and heavy snowfalls... Needs to be airaided

by iFish Guest on Mar. 23, 2013
Was there today sat 23,this lake has winter killed, seen lots of dead fish on bottom...

by iFish Guest on Mar. 23, 2013

by iFish Guest on Mar. 22, 2013
Tried this lake last week, in first 30 mins a fish about 10" swam past the bait without interest, no luck In about 4-5 hours.

by iFish Guest on Mar. 15, 2013
Lots on camera 2feet below ice moving slownothing biting

by Slim Daddy on Mar. 13, 2013
Very low oxygen in the water. The fish need a break. Stick to catch and release...

by iFish Guest on Mar. 12, 2013
3/15 Out for several hours, true several spots, and not even a bite. It's over for the year!!

by Jimmy wilson on Mar. 9, 2013

I live at the lake and was out today. Tried 3 different spots on the lake and not even a nibble.

by iFish Guest on Mar. 8, 2013

by Thehookster on Mar. 7, 2013
Oxygen depleated fish four feet off the bottom and you will haul them out to bad it's been over fished though try some catch and release

by iFish Guest on Mar. 6, 2013

by Snowmanguide on Feb. 26, 2013
Hammered em!!!

by iFish Guest on Feb. 25, 2013
Was out 2/21 and caught 1 perch in 5 hours! Never seen it that slow, but it is what it is! Plenty of ice still to drive on, and easy access without 4x4

by iFish Guest on Feb. 19, 2013
Went out on Sunday morning. Had a great day, between 3 of us we limited in 4 hrs. My husband and I kept 10 for dinner, my cousin kept only 6. No need to keep anything if u don't plan on eating. It was a fun day, lots of action. 3 weeks ago we only caught 2 threw them back and left. It all depends on the day. Gotta take the bad with the good. We also seen a lot of pikes and caught 2 that were hilarious in size. Not even 7 inches but it was fun as they are vicious little buggers. My cat wouldn't even be interested LOL!! Happy fishin and fish responsibly :)

by Jimmy wilson on Feb. 18, 2013
This lake has been over fished this winter was great early in the season but with over a hundred vehicles on the lake during the day on weekends the fishing has declined severely

by Nightman on Feb. 18, 2013
Out @ 8 am west end the bite was dead stayed till noon 1 small pike that's it

by Jhook on Feb. 18, 2013
Went with a buddy got there at 9 am and hammered about 10 perch and then they didn't seem interested at all , every hook we had we tried ,seen probably 500 easy. Pretty good size

by Aj78 on Feb. 17, 2013
Went out feb 13. Still 14-16in of ice and no flood water

by iFish Guest on Feb. 17, 2013
Went out on feb 13. Still about 14in of ice. No flood water.

by Kris on Feb. 15, 2013
Good day all.... I'm hoping to take the family out this weekend but was hoping some one could help me out and let me know if we can still safely drive out onto the ice???? It's been a few weeks since I have been out. Any posts on this would be great. Thanks!

by cvan on Feb. 15, 2013
Flood water?

by Fireman on Feb. 15, 2013
Yes

by cvan on Feb. 15, 2013
Is there anywhere at this lake to drive a truck on to the ice

by Jimmy wilson on Feb. 15, 2013
With the warm weather lately is it still safe to drive on

by yj on Feb. 12, 2013
Fair for perch yesterday lots of pike around all and all it was entertaining !!!

by Pig Perch on Feb. 11, 2013
Oops, wrong lake, thought I was typing about Cross. It was Cross I got stuck on. Too much snow and flood water. Could be a treacherous drive on this weekend if the weather remains warm!

by Pig Perch on Feb. 11, 2013
I went out for most of the day Sunday, 2nd one out on the lake and got stuck! Thanks to the two gentlemen from the Gibbons area for giving me a hand. When I did settle in to fishing, hammered the heck out of the perch, enough keepers for a good feed !

by yj on Feb. 11, 2013
Goin out today will post results

by Slim Daddy on Feb. 8, 2013
An excellent place to take kids. We caught dozens of small perch and they showed on camera all day. Few we're of any size but the point for us was getting the kids involved in fishing and it worked!

by Meat on Feb. 7, 2013
Many, many perch on the aquaview, 2-6" perch all day, maggots, mealworms, and every color and hook in the box couldn't entice a steady bite. 10 jack on tip-ups, no keepers. Slow day on the hard water.

by copper1070 on Feb. 7, 2013
Great day on the lake today! Took the kids out and smashed perch all day. Think I caught 40 myself..most were around 6-8" but kept a few bigger ones. Nice to have a day with non stop action!

by Italstal on Feb. 7, 2013
Ya thats true rapala. If that was explained more in the regs maybe people would think to diversify more than decimating the population that replenishes . There are ways but its not very reliable. Look it up on google there features to watch for . Males and females supposedly have a diffrent anus.

by iFish Guest on Feb. 6, 2013
Tons of perch in the lake some good size ones too i come here every weekend just goto know the right spots an they will bite all day only bad part it gets crowded

by Rapalaroland on Feb. 6, 2013
All the big ones are usaully females. It's very rare u get a big male.

by AnglerAAA on Feb. 6, 2013
Lots of people on the ice , slow at times but then hammer time at others. 12 keepers all seemed to be pregnant though. Is there a way to tell if they are or not!??

by Italstal on Feb. 6, 2013
I agree rapalaroland some people have no idea how the reproductive cycle of a perch works. Males and females reach maturity and diffrent ages and a perch takes 2-3 years to mature. So diversity is better take a few big ones but how about releasing some of the breeders back in. Why do you think they have walleye slot sizes? Same diffrence

by 1outdoorsman on Feb. 5, 2013
Hey vokes...go north from st.albert to morinville..then go west to sandy lake untill RR20...go north untill u hit the lake

by 1outdoorsman on Feb. 5, 2013
Went fishing there a few days ago and fished out on perch and jake...all perch were over 10" and through back 30...one jake at 33" long and the other 2 were 27"..great fishing day..hope everyone has the same luck..

by iFish Guest on Feb. 5, 2013
Drive through morniville and keep headin west untill u reach RR20..then go north till u hit the lake

by Vokes on Feb. 5, 2013
What's the best way to access the lake? I'm driving up from Edmonton.

by Rapalaroland on Feb. 5, 2013
Yeah cause it makes a lot if sense to keep all the big perch which are your female spawners. Instead of harvesting one 6 inch fish from the lake u take a 12 incher full of eggs and havest thousands of fish. GREAT CONSERVATION!!

by Nightman on Feb. 4, 2013
Lakes going to be fished out by spring

by iFish Guest on Feb. 3, 2013
On Feb 2-13 yah! got our limits great perch fishin.... pan fries... yummy

by JohnnyD on Feb. 2, 2013
No luck on perch, too pany pike around. Landed a few, but just one keeper at around 5 lbs. Ice was 24" thick.

by Pig Perch on Feb. 1, 2013
Perhaps best catch and release lake in all of Alberta for all sizes? Historical studies suggest Nakumun has a higher mercury content than most other lakes. Don't know how much truth to that, but did manage to catch a 22 pound, 37 inch pike a few years back.

by perchnpil on Jan. 31, 2013
New to Edm area an I wanna take the girl out perch fishing. Just wondering where the best access is onto the lake, and if anyone has any good spots? Gotta impress the girl haha. Thanks alot

by crosbyfan124 on Jan. 31, 2013
Let them keep small perch more food for the big ones outdoorsman let me guess you keep all the big ones thinking its good for the lake perch dont need a size limit instead of 15 make it 10 or even 5 im sure you go there and take your fair share.

by 1outdoorsman on Jan. 31, 2013
Ya..its about 14" to18"....

by iFish Guest on Jan. 31, 2013
Hey everyone, does anyone know the ice thickness? I can't find it anywhere!

by outdoorsman on Jan. 28, 2013
Thanks everyone that agrees with my comments...i still beleave theres alot of good fishing people out there...keep safe and fish hard..oh and good luck to everyone in the season.....

by Snowman160 on Jan. 28, 2013
no reason to keep 6" fish.i bring a tape an release everything under 9"..got 13 today biggest 11 3/8"!!very slow, flasher helped big time with the finicky bites I did get..tight lines!

by Nightman on Jan. 28, 2013
Well said too many idiots out there as it is

by Pikster on Jan. 28, 2013
I fully agree outdoorsman. As much as i hate govt interfering in things I think it's time for F & W to impose restriction to perch sizes if nothing else works! I love taking my son out to see excitement in his eyes to actually catch something.

by outdoorsman on Jan. 28, 2013
Fishin was great this weekend but i have to say this...people that fish and keep little perch under 6" should be shot...iv seen with my own eyes people fishing right beside me keepin little perch under 6"...come on..give your head a shake...thats one good reason why lakes get fished out in a year or two.........

by Team fish on Jan. 27, 2013
Between 6 of us, we pulled out over 30 perch. Keep 12 that were 9inch+. 3 small jack. Good day on the ice!!!

by Lip smasher on Jan. 27, 2013
Good day of fishing.... 16-18 inches of ice now... Gonna have a good fry

by Woolly on Jan. 26, 2013

by Fishnet on Jan. 22, 2013
How has the fishing been? We went out a few weeks ago and did well. Thinking of going this weekend, love this lake. Had some minor issues with other fisherman though:( Some think the lake is being overfished.

by shelterless on Jan. 21, 2013

by Pike Slayer on Jan. 21, 2013

by youngbuck on Jan. 21, 2013

by 06dvx on Jan. 20, 2013

by FishingAddict on Jan. 14, 2013
Hey all fishing people. Going out on a limb here. Getting a lil tired of people finding going to the bar or watching sports all day over the weekends more important and no one wants to go fishin anymore. Basically, I'm lookin for fishin pals to go with. I'm a 35 year old married momma who can commit to going on most occassions. I have most equipment, truck, quad, tent, power auger, and other small nic-nacs. Realistically I can go alone, but it can get rather boring. Just lookin for some friendly company, and I do not need instructions. Haven't been to this lake yet, but I have been to Cross Lake many times. I usually fish for perch. Anyway just thought I'd put myself out there as I am going through fishing fever big time!!

by Perchmaster on Jan. 12, 2013
Just got back from Nakamun, caught close to 100 perch!!! Great day , all between 8-11 inches.

by Walleye Hunter on Dec. 28, 2012
Also just wanted to say, for those who want to know where that guy was probably talking about... "His TOP secret haunt" If he's talkin BIGGEST PERCH ever seen, & ya u need a sled or sideXside to get into, it HAS to be "WIAU LAKE" last year this lake was ON FIRE!!! He was also right when sayin best time to FISH it was around MARCH!!!

by Spydorman on Dec. 28, 2012
Totally believe in fishing calendar. Every time I've remembered to look, even the bad days, it's been pretty accurate. Being using app on phone for three years. Try to plan around good days, but when get the itch and go on bad day, it sucks because u know its going to be slow, but u go out anyway. Lol.

by yj on Dec. 28, 2012
Does anyone really believe in fishing calenders, solunar table, moon phases what about other factors atmospheric pressure, windy, cloudy. My take on this is if you don't try on the calenders bad days how would you know . Any feedback ???

by Fishy on Dec. 27, 2012
Deep or the shallows for perch?

by Perch on Dec. 26, 2012
Well a lot of fishing pressure can be good for a yellow perch population.

by #4fisherman on Dec. 26, 2012
No access from camp area at all. From south side and east side. No answers for your other queries -- haven't been there this year.

by troutman on Dec. 26, 2012
Was gona head here tomorrow, can a guy get on off the camp nakamun side or do you have to access from the south boat launch?where are all these jumbos hangin out,I've done decent out deeper towards the middle but I hear of flood water.can ya drive on the lake at all?

by Dschade on Dec. 25, 2012
So are there any perch left in nakamun?

by yj on Dec. 25, 2012
I've caught 10 - 12 inch perch in nakamum and they don't compare to the jumbo's you caught brother right on no doubt they are there I fished coal lake and caught jumbos 1 trip out of fifty outings keep it up we like the feedback

by Perchmann on Dec. 25, 2012
I consider any perch over 11" as a "jumbo" . They have quite the hump to them. But of course a lake you sled or quad into will have more quality and quantity . But I know first hand there are jumbos at Nak.

by Snowman160 on Dec. 25, 2012
sorry perch I don't talk about my favourite haunts.they are all quad/sled access only so if that helps ya.an this are good perch yup can't believe I didn't see any in there last yr.too bad cant post pics on this site.i got perch bigger than 750ml pop bottles if ya guys wanna see

by CanadianBadass on Dec. 25, 2012
Cross lake has jumbos or island lake near Athabasca, I caught one at 1.9 oz there. Incredible perch fishing also at hubbles lake

by Perch on Dec. 25, 2012
What are some other good jumbo lakes snowman?

by Fuzzy grubber on Dec. 25, 2012
Snowman last year I caught 1lb .8 once and lots that were 12 once's to me a jumbo is at least 12 once's

by Snowman160 on Dec. 25, 2012
Of course they do I spent days an hours searching the lake for "jumbos" an didnt get one over 10" which may be to you a "jumbo" but not to me.i have my lakes that has jumbos that ill save till feb march.mabey I missed a few square feet of the lake that they were all hiding.send me yur email an ill send ya pics of real jumbos.

by Fuzzy grubber on Dec. 25, 2012
Very well said took the words right out of my mouth

by Perchmann on Dec. 24, 2012
Hey snowman . Just because YOU only catch small perch here doesn't mean there are not big ones . I'm sure every lake with perch has perch over a foot. Ps keep your comments to yourself! And Merry Christmas to all !

by Snowman160 on Dec. 24, 2012
you must not have caught any actual jumbos before if you think the perch in nakamun are "jumbos" haha

by Fishy on Dec. 24, 2012
Fished here lots this winter and yet to find the perch any hints on where to find them?

by Perch on Dec. 24, 2012
Limit in jumbos

by Fishy do on Dec. 22, 2012
Lake has around ten inches ice. Over flow in middle. Couldn't cross with truck. Caught three 6 inch perch

by Perchmann on Dec. 19, 2012
So true YJ ! Pollution has such a fast and vast impact on a lake system . From the micro organisms to the pelicans! It would kill more fish than anglers could for sure . I usually fish for quality rather than quantity ! But all of us know even the smallest of female perch have eggs! In my opinion from what I've read and learned is that anglers play a smaller role. Maybe I'll get a government grant to answer the questions at hand . Cha Ching

by yj on Dec. 19, 2012
you may have started a heated debate perch man a2 to 3 year old female perch will have 10000 to 40,000 eggs believe the only thing that will eliminate the perch is a winter kill having no white fish in nakamum lake who are notorious for consuming large amounts of eggs is a plus for survival of the perch pollution in our waters in my opinion is a bigger threat ie gas oil sewage !! again this is my opinion what do you think ???

by Perchmann on Dec. 19, 2012
The question of the day , " Can a lake this size sustain a legal limit of fish caught everyday for the average amount of anglers ? Of course assuming they know about possession limit and daily limit . Any thoughts guys and gals!

by farmer on Dec. 18, 2012
very slow

by yj on Dec. 18, 2012
Perch are slow 10 keepers

by Fishy on Dec. 18, 2012
Thanks for the info Dwhodgie much appreciated

by Dwhodgie on Dec. 18, 2012
I got on the lake by camp nakamun on the quad, then headed toward the cabins in about 10ft of water. That's where I got the pike. Moved about halfway to that island in about 15ft and was on the perch. No humpbacks, but 7-8".

by Fishy on Dec. 18, 2012
Hey Dwhodgie where about was the good perch fishing located?

by Dwhodgie on Dec. 18, 2012
Three small pike, lots of action on the perch. Kept 5 for dinner. Good first impression. Ice was good, there were a few trucks out. It's still a little sketchy for a 1ton, so I brought the quad.

by yj on Dec. 17, 2012
Going tomorrow who's in let you know how we made out trying another technic that has been successful in the past for perch !!!

by Fuzzy grubber on Dec. 16, 2012
Oh ya I was able to drive right on lots of ice but in the middle lake there is flood water I wouldn't attempt go across to the other side just yet lots of people parking on shore and walking out

by Fuzzy grubber on Dec. 16, 2012

by yj on Dec. 16, 2012

by Fuzzy grubber on Dec. 12, 2012

by Snowman160 on Dec. 12, 2012

by Pikster on Apr. 25, 2012
Based on feedback my son would would have a blast. Dont have a boat though. Does anyone know if there are public docks to fish off of without upsetting the locals?

by moose on Mar. 24, 2012
they should make a limit of like 5 or less fish per person. there is no reason for someone to keep 50 fish. if things keep going like this then the lake will shortly be out fished like alot of other alberta lakes.

by New guy on Mar. 22, 2012
How is the fish there and how is the ice

by Me on Mar. 18, 2012
